SAD at the CLINIC arose from SHY at the CHEMIST, a band that thrilled killed local audiences for some 8 years, before giving them peace in 1999.

The original members of SHY, Torchie, Preston Hardwick and Dave the Lighter, swore never to play again, and to just watch other bands. They got totally bored and jealous within two weeks, and formed
SAD at the CLINIC

The original line up remains the same today, except for the drummer Rumble Moreskin, a young man who rapidly realised he would never learn anything from these old fools.

Originally teaming up with Bernt Horgan, (keys/guitar) and Lee Nova (Vox) they began gigging in May 1999.

Their formula of having fun ensured they rapidly bacame, and remain one of the foremost and popular bands in Essex.
Wherever they play they soon earn the respect of the audience, which invariably builds into a dedicated following in whichever area they are appearing.

They have a world of experience between them, which rapidly shines through, but simply want to do one thing; enjoy themselves, and make sure the audience does the same.

The sets ensure there will be something you enjoy whatever your taste, or age, but if tastes are narrow, and you can't enjoy a laugh, they won't be offended if you give them a miss.

"Ooooo aaah so much it hurts etc...""Haa haaa haaa haa!!"

Having fun however doesn't mean they don't take their music seriously... they are accomplished players, and have recently been joined by Plums on drums, who is apparently a 'proper' musician, as well as being an accomplished Japanese Tap-Dancer.

Hello my darling!

The set is made up of well known 'pub-stomping' covers, but played with several more balls than the original! If you want an idea of the trax, click HERE

Even if there's nothing you like, just sit back and watch a great local band taking nothing particularly seriously other than having a good time, in the hope you do too.

SATC may play covers but never copy.
Catch Torchie and ask why, & his reaction will be that if you want a band to sound like the original, get a CD!

"I'm their only fan..."

Nor do they do original material, but that isn't to say they don't write music.
Torchie writes and records regularly on his own or with others, and has just finished an 'ablum' with Crispin Dry, ex-keyboard player with SHY at the CHEMIST, and the Musical Director for 'Fish'

"I think that's the chord...."

Below is a typical SATC audience member:

Me? I like Bernt the best.... because he is my brudder... and this is near to the typical mayhem during a SAD gig:

We luv Bernt's Morris Dancing....

The band try to please as man
y people as often as possible, even to the point that if you want, you can e-mail your suggestions, and if they pass the SAD 'Party' test, you may just hear your track at a future gig!

"Let's all try and sing...."

"OOOooohhh! I luv Lee, I luv Lee...."

Rattle, clank rattle...we love SATC
